Best of Northern Virginia - Responsive Website Upgrade
Project Overview
Clean, Modern, No-Nonsense

Stan Whitmore of Best of Northern Virginia in Annandale, Virginia came to Fine Line with some clear ideas about what a real estate website should do. His first efforts, almost a decade before, had tried to offer visitors everything they could conceivably want to know about the state of  Virginia, buying and selling houses, his partner/wife Earle…you get the idea, a shotgun approach.  Older and wiser, he now asked for a clean, modern site that quickly provided consumers with relevant details on current listings, upcoming listings and recent sales. He also required the ability to display floor plans and nest images in them. And he’d noticed his site wasn’t looking very good on smartphones and other mobile devices. Because he is the kind of person who likes to tweak his site, Mr. Whitmore also asked for a friendly content management system so he could keep it up- to-date.

I like Fine Line because they are easy to work with...especially they put up with my ramblings and are able to sort out what I’m really trying to say.

Goal: Faster, Cleaner, Mobile-Friendly

Mr. Whitmore chose Fine Line from his informal ongoing review of real estate agency websites. He liked the clean modern look of their work and asked them to create an attractive no-nonsense site that quickly got visitors to current listings and kept those listings up-to-date. The goal was to simplify the user experience while making the site faster, mobile-friendly, and easier to self-manage. He also asked for a special feature that could display floorplans and embed images in them.

Goal: Faster, Cleaner, Mobile-Friendly

I was attracted to Fine Line because they create sites that are clean and have a modern look and feel.

Solution: Looking Good Everywhere

The shift from desktop to mobile display is well underway and though requiring websites to display well on all devices is not yet an industry standard, we at Fine Line believe so-called responsive design should be.  Mr. Whitmore agreed and asked us to "kick his site up a notch." We built the Best of Northern Virginia, on the mobile-friendly Bootstrap framework and today it displays and functions well on all devices.

Solution: Looking Good Everywhere
Solution: Finding the Site that Helps You Find Your Home

Though not specified by Mr. Whitmore, Fine Line knows that more than two-thirds of visitors find websites from generic search – mostly through Google.  It’s standard practice at Fine Line to automatically build search engine Optimization (SEO) into all of our sites.  We enhance how search engines find and rank our sites through content, tweaks to code structure, navigation, URL rewriting and Metadata.  As a result of our efforts, traffic to Mr. Whitmore’s site has more than doubled.

Result: Nailed It!

Best of Northern Virginia is now a clean, snappy, modern website providing instant access to exactly the information home buyers want.  By displaying floorplans, visitors can visualize room-by-room details and traffic flow; embedded images deliver a real world view. The client can now create and change content 24/7 through the simple and reliable Joomla! content management system (CMS).  Bootstrap ensures that the site will look good on all devices today and well into the future. Our modern search engine optimization techniques have boosted traffic by over 200%.

Result: Nailed It!

I like the fact that they do it all in Joomla! which allows me to go in and when I decide I want to add something it’s not written in a language that is so sophisticated you have to have an expert do it. Now I do it myself and to me that’s really important because there’s not a day goes by that I don’t find some little quirk or tweak that I want to make on it.
